A Collaboration Born from Community
On 28 July 2024, a classroom full of young artists from Vinz Art Studio, a beloved local art and handicraft school, sat down not just to paint, but to co-create. Their brief? To bring the fairy-tale spirit of Dottylicious to life through their own hands, their own imagination, and their own unique style.
The result was a gallery of vibrant fairy illustrations that now form the visual heartbeat of our growing brand. Each artwork was different and every single one was made by a child who had no idea they were also learning something far bigger than painting.
Why We Did This? The Sustainability Story Behind Dottylicious
At Legendary Bakery & Dottylicious, we believe sustainability is not just about ingredients or packaging. It is about people, specifically, the next generation.
When we decided to redesign our brand identity, we made a conscious choice: instead of hiring a design agency, we would invest in young local talent. We would take our brand to the children and ask them to dream it into existence.
Here is what that decision did:
It kept creativity local. Every ringgit we invested went back into the community, into a local studio, into art supplies, into the hands of kids from our own neighbourhood.
It made sustainability tangible for children. We talked to these young artists about what our bakery stands for, baking with heart, reducing waste, using real ingredients, building something that lasts. They listened. Then they painted it. When children understand a value through making, they carry it with them for life.
It created a living brand. Our fairy mascots are not stock illustrations. They are originals, created by real kids with real stories. That is the kind of brand authenticity no agency brief can manufacture.
From Paintbrushes to our Brand
The fairy illustrations produced that day became the foundation of our new brand direction under the Dottylicious concept, a playful, imaginative, community-rooted identity that reflects exactly who we are: a small bakery with big dreams, building something legendary one collaboration at a time.
Our packaging, our social media, our website, all of it now carries a little piece of what those children made. Every time you hold one of our boxes, you are holding a piece of that afternoon.
What This Means for Our Future
We are still building. Dottylicious is a growing brand, and we are doing it the slow, intentional way, through community partnerships, through craft, through real relationships.
This collaboration with Vinz Art Studio is our blueprint. As we grow, we want to keep:
Partnering with local schools, studios, and youth organisations to co-create seasonal designs, limited-edition packaging, and campaign art
Hosting baking and creativity workshops that bring art and food together as twin forms of expression
Making sustainability personal, not a corporate tick-box, but a genuine practice of investing in the people around us.
